Bluebird of Happiness Kitchen
Homeowners recently purchased a new home and wanted to have the work completed prior to moving in. Kitchen Elements was hired to renovate the kitchen and several bathrooms in the home in Kensington, Maryland.
The home was relatively large, with generously sized rooms. The kitchen was very small in comparison. In order to more equally distribute space, the the wall that separated the kitchen from the dining area was removed. By enlarging the kitchen, we also elevated the kitchen’s importance in the home. Additionally, a small arched doorway which led from the family room into the kitchen was enlarged to 72”. This created a large open space which was more synchronous with the home.
We replaced two windows from the dining area with a large sliding glass door flanked by windows on either side. The sliding glass door opens onto a rear deck and patio. Additionally, the alcove in the kitchen, which once functioned as an exit to the back deck, became a space for the sink, dishwasher and trash pull out. A window replaced the door. Also replaced, was the 2 center double hung windows which became a large picture window. The new homeowners love their 180 degree view of the back yard while working at the sink.
The back splash tile, purchased on Houzz pairs perfectly with the white and blue cabinetry. The Emerstone Borghini Silver counter tops are also a beautiful addition. To delineate the cooking area of the kitchen from the eat-in area, the homeowner wanted a change in counter top materials and selected the Vetrazzo Chivalry Blue for the beverage center counter tops.
The new kitchen has plenty of space to shelve cook books and store counter top appliances away from sight. The homeowners love to cook. The Thermador range and Advantium convection microwave will certainly get a lot of use while creating delicious meals.
