Dog Days Before and After
A dog loving family in Olney, Maryland was looking for an updated kitchen with more space and better flow. They also hoped to find a wood floor durable enough to withstand an ever-present parade of dogs and the scratches that they leave behind.
A wall dividing the kitchen from the dining room was removed to expand and open up the space. A large double glass door leading to the deck was moved and replaced by a smaller exterior door equipped with a doggy door. The sink window was enlarged to let in the natural light lost when the double door was removed. The enlarged window also enhances the view of the beautiful garden.
The dining area was enhanced by adding a gas burning fireplace surrounded by new cabinetry with wine storage and Gothic mullion doors.
Finally, the homeowners selected Armstrong Hand Scraped Hickory floors to be installed throughout the entire main floor of the home. The tile inlay was added to the kitchen, foyer and hallway.
